We are honoured to have our Kintsugi Experience in Kanazawa featured in the UK travel magazine Escapism Magazine.

The article explores Kanazawa as a city of craft and repair, and introduces our workshop as a place where visitors can experience the philosophy of kintsugi — not simply as a technique, but as a way of seeing beauty in imperfection.

About the Feature

In the interview, I spoke about how I began kintsugi, what repair means to me, and why I believe broken objects carry stories worth preserving.

Kintsugi is not about hiding cracks.
It is about illuminating them.

To have this philosophy shared with readers beyond Japan is something I deeply cherish.

Personal Reflection

My mother was a ceramic artist.

When I was in high school, she spent three months in the UK training at Wedgwood.
Seeing her dedication to her craft left a quiet impression on me.

Years later, after she passed away, one of the bowls she had made herself broke.
That moment led me to learn kintsugi — not only to repair an object, but to understand more deeply what it means to preserve something with care.

Now that this story is reaching readers in the UK, I feel a gentle sense of connection across time and place.

Repair connects generations.
It connects cultures.

If you would like to experience Kintsugi in Kanazawa,
we warmly welcome you to join our workshop.
